Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking an Assistant Manager, Financial Risk to join our Risk Management team in Singapore.

This role provides strategic risk management support across the Asia Pacific region, helping to strengthen financial risk oversight, support business growth initiatives, and promote effective risk management practices across business units. You will work closely with regional, local, and Group stakeholders to provide risk insights, support business decision-making, and ensure alignment with Group risk management standards.


Key Responsibilities


Regional Risk Management

  • Support quarterly Asia Pacific Risk Committee reporting to Asia Pacific Management and Group senior leadership.
  • Identify and assess risk trends and considerations relating to business performance, solvency, and macroeconomic developments.
  • Validate annual business plans, material policy changes, and business initiatives, including new products and reinsurance arrangements.
  • Support the development and enhancement of regional risk management frameworks, ensuring alignment with Group risk policies.


Business Growth & Risk Advisory

  • Act as the regional specialist for Credit Risk and Asset-Liability Management (ALM) across Mekong business units.
  • Assign internal credit ratings and monitor credit risk exposures.
  • Support ALM strategies while ensuring alignment with Group risk principles and strategy.
  • Provide risk management support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other business growth initiatives.
  • Lead monitoring of Capital Markets and risk developments across the Mekong region.


Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Group functions to support the implementation of Group-wide initiatives and requirements across the region.
  • Facilitate engagement and communication among Group and regional stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Foster alignment and understanding of financial risk matters across Group, regional, and local stakeholders.


Projects & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead and support strategic and ad hoc projects as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of risk management frameworks, standards, and practices across business units.


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree and above.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the life insurance or investment industry.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, solvency regimes, and life insurance products within the Asia Pacific region.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and presentation skills, particularly in Finance, Asset-Liability Management (ALM), and Credit Risk.
  • Ability to align Group strategy and objectives with local market considerations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and markets.
  • Self-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset and the resilience to achieve results despite challenges.
  • Progress towards, or possession of, professional qualifications in Actuarial Science, Investment Management, or Financial Risk Management would be an advantage.
