Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer (4-6 years) to design, develop, test, and maintain firmware solutions for advanced power electronics and power conversion systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded C programming, microcontroller architectures, real-time operating systems (RTOS), device driver development, and firmware security. Experience with power converter topologies, digital control systems, and simulation tools is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Development
- Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware using C for real-time power electronic applications.
- Develop startup code, linker scripts, interrupt service routines (ISR), and low-level hardware interfaces.
- Implement and maintain RTOS-based applications including task scheduling, synchronization mechanisms, queues, semaphores, and timers.
- Develop and enhance device drivers and middleware components.
Hardware Integration
- Work closely with hardware teams to integrate firmware with embedded platforms.
- Develop firmware interfaces for peripherals including: GPIO, PWM, ADC, I2C, SPI, UART
- Support board bring-up, debugging, and hardware validation activities.
Testing & Verification
- Develop and execute unit and integration tests.
- Perform firmware verification and validation activities throughout the development lifecycle.
- Utilize automated test frameworks and test tools to improve product quality.
Debugging & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve firmware and system-level issues using:
- JTAG/SWD debuggers
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic analyzers
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Development Process & Collaboration
- Participate in Agile software development processes.
- Manage source code using Git and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, systems engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
Security & Product Lifecycle
- Implement embedded security features including: Secure boot, Cryptographic, Functions, Key management, OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware updates
- Ensure firmware complies with reliability, security, and lifecycle requirements.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science
Technical Skills:
Embedded Systems
- Strong proficiency in Embedded C programming.
- Experience with bare-metal firmware development.
- Solid understanding of RTOS concepts and implementation.
- Knowledge of ARM Cortex-M and/or RISC-V architectures.
Microcontrollers & Peripherals
- Hands-on experience developing firmware for: GPIO, PWM, ADC, I2C, SPI, UART
Testing & Debugging
- Unit testing and integration testing experience.
- Strong debugging skills using hardware debugging tools.
- Experience with system troubleshooting and performance optimization.
Development Tools
- Git version control.
- CI/CD workflows and automated build systems.
- Embedded IDEs and development environments.
Security
- Embedded cybersecurity concepts.
- Secure firmware lifecycle management.
- OTA update mechanisms and secure boot implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
Power Electronics Knowledge
- Understanding of DC-DC power converter topologies.
- Knowledge of digital power control techniques.
- Familiarity with power conversion system architectures.
Modeling & Simulation
- Experience with: MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS
- Development and validation of control algorithms for power converters.
Validation & HIL
- Experience with: Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, real-time simulation environments, Control system verification and validation
