The PMO Lead is responsible for establishing, developing, and managing the Project Management Office to ensure effective project delivery, governance, and alignment with organisational strategy. This role is pivotal in driving best practices, standardising processes, and providing leadership to project managers and teams across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement PMO frameworks, methodologies, and standards to ensure consistent project delivery.
- Oversee the portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and efficient resource allocation.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project managers and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor and report on project progress, performance, and risks to senior management and stakeholders.
- Facilitate project governance, including stage gates, reviews, and compliance with organisational policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO and across project teams.
- Manage project documentation, templates, and knowledge sharing platforms.
- Lead training and development programmes for project management competencies.
- Act as a key point of contact for project escalations, issue resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, with at least 2 years in a PMO leadership role.
- Proven track record in establishing and managing PMO functions within complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Experience with portfolio management and project prioritisation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence at all levels of the organisation and drive organisational change.
