The Ops and Automation Engineer is responsible for delivering scalable, reliable operational solutions across core IT platforms, with a strong focus on leveraging automation to drive efficiency and consistency. The role works across identity, endpoint, network, and service management domains to improve operational outcomes, reduce manual effort, and support modernisation initiatives. The role also acts as an escalation point for complex issues and ensures solutions are supportable, secure, and aligned to organisational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Engineering & Solution Delivery

· Design and implement scalable solutions across identity, endpoint, network, and service management platforms.

· Hands-on experience applying ITIL Service Management best practices across Incident, Problem, Request, and Change processes in a high-volume support environment.

· Act as a key escalation point for BAU support teams, investigating and resolving complex or high-impact operational issues.

· Provide technical guidance and uplift to support teams to reduce repeat escalations over time.

· Ensure solutions are reliable, secure, and supportable within operational environments.

2. Automation & Process Optimisation

· Identify high-volume, repeatable operational tasks and automate them where it delivers clear value.

· Develop reusable, modular automation solutions to reduce manual workload and improve consistency.

· Implement event-driven and scheduled automation (e.g. alert-triggered remediation).

3. Platform Integration & Workflow Enablement

· Integrate systems using APIs, scripting, and automation frameworks to streamline cross-platform processes.

· Enable self-service and automate fulfilment of common requests within service management platforms (e.g. Jira).

· Support bulk operations and large-scale changes with controlled, repeatable processes.

4. Automation Standards & Lifecycle Management

· Build and maintain automation frameworks, standards, and best practices.

· Maintain and enhance existing automation solutions to ensure ongoing value and reliability.

· Embed logging, monitoring, and visibility into all solutions.

5. Ownership & Delivery of Initiatives

· Own the end-to-end delivery of assigned initiatives, from identification and planning through to implementation and outcome realisation.

· Manage priorities, timelines, and workload independently to ensure consistent delivery of outcomes.

· Provide visibility on progress, risks, and outcomes through structured reporting and updates.

6. Operational Uplift & Continuous Improvement

· Proactively identify inefficiencies and drive system-level improvements across operations.

· Reduce reliance on manual processes through standardisation, optimisation, and automation.

· Analyse recurring BAU issues and implement permanent fixes to prevent reoccurrence.

7. Security, Compliance & Governance

· Ensure all solutions align with security standards, RBAC models, and audit requirements.

· Design solutions with appropriate controls, traceability, and risk awareness.

· Support secure handling of identity, access, and endpoint management processes.

8. Documentation & Knowledge Management

· Produce clear, structured, and reusable documentation for all solutions.

· Contribute to and uplift internal knowledge bases and operational runbooks.

· Ensure solutions are not reliant on individual knowledge and are transferable across teams.

Key Experience and Education

· Proven ability to design and build reusable, modular automation solutions

· Hands-on experience with:

o Identity & Access: Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Okta

o Endpoint Management: Intune, Automox

o Network & Security: Palo Alto, Zscaler, Meraki

o Monitoring & Observability: SolarWinds, Dynatrace

o ITSM & Knowledge: Jira, Confluence

· Strong PowerShell scripting capability (essential) and experience with BASH or similar scripting languages

· Experience integrating systems via APIs (Microsoft Graph, REST, webhooks)

· Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Azure Automation, Power Platform)

· Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and modern engineering practices (e.g. Terraform, CI/CD tooling, Git)

· Strong understanding of hybrid identity, endpoint lifecycle management, and operational security controls

· Strong documentation and knowledge management capability, with a focus on producing clear, reusable documentation

· Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on system-level improvements

· Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver outcomes with minimal oversight

· Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month
