About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Network L2 Operations Engineer (Network SME) to support enterprise network operations within a large-scale IT environment.
This role is responsible for managing end-to-end L2 network operations, leading major incident resolution, driving service improvements, and providing technical expertise across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, and network infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent stakeholder management skills, and experience working in ITIL-driven environments while ensuring high service availability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Incident Management
- Own end-to-end L2 network operations, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Act as the primary escalation point for major incidents and critical network outages.
- Ensure SLA and KPI compliance while driving continuous service improvements.
- Lead daily operational reviews, governance meetings, and reporting activities.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions to minimize recurring incidents.
- Coordinate with L1, L3, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Network Engineering & Infrastructure Support
- Provide expert support for enterprise routing and switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and related protocols.
- Troubleshoot complex LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and network performance issues.
- Support network design validation and implementation of infrastructure changes.
- Perform managed device health checks and ensure IOS/software compliance.
- Coordinate proactively with OEM vendors throughout the product lifecycle.
- Review network configurations to improve performance, stability, and security.
- Support network capacity planning and infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
Operations Excellence
- Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain SOPs, knowledge articles, and operational documentation.
- Review inventory records and coordinate CMDB updates.
- Participate in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises.
- Mentor L1 engineers by providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Support on-call duties and critical outage management when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Network Operations or Network Engineering.
- Experience working as a Network L2 Operations Engineer, Network SME, or Network Operations Lead.
