Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Shift Lead Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data centre facility. The role is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability, reliability, and performance of critical infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and monitoring systems. The successful candidate will lead shift operations, coordinate incident response, manage maintenance activities, and ensure all operational procedures are executed safely and in accordance with industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise data centre operations during assigned shifts, ensuring maximum uptime of all critical infrastructure.
- Monitor and operate critical systems including UPS, generators, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, switchgears, PDUs, fire protection systems, and building management systems (BMS/DCIM).
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations, performing initial troubleshooting and coordinating recovery activities.
- Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance checks, and operational rounds to ensure equipment health and compliance.
- Coordinate and supervise vendors, contractors, and service providers performing maintenance and repair works.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are executed following approved Method of Procedures (MOP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP).
- Lead shift handovers by maintaining accurate operational logs, incident reports, maintenance records, and shift documentation.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support capacity planning, equipment commissioning, testing, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental policies while maintaining operational excellence.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including IT Operations, Facilities, Security, and Project teams to support business requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians while fostering a strong safety and operational culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Facilities Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mission-critical facilities such as data centres.
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining critical infrastructure, including UPS systems, Diesel generator, HVAC and cooling systems, Electrical distribution systems, Fire suppression systems, BMS/DCIM/SCADA monitoring platforms
- Strong knowledge of critical environment operations, preventive maintenance, and emergency response procedures.
- Experience coordinating maintenance vendors and managing permit-to-work activities.
- Ability to perform fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and incident management under pressure.
Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
