About Sigmo

Sigmo is the learning platform behind Sigmaschool’s AI-Native Software Engineering Bootcamp.

We are building a better way for students to learn software development, build real projects, get feedback, track progress, and become employable in the AI era.

The product is still early, so we need someone who can bring product thinking, design taste, structure, and execution discipline. This role is not just about designing nice screens. You will help turn messy ideas into clear product flows, coordinate with developers, test features properly, and make sure product improvements actually ship.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Product Designer & Project Manager to help design, organize, and deliver product improvements for Sigmo. You will work closely with the founder, developers, curriculum team, and student success team to improve the student learning experience across lessons, missions, submissions, XP, progress tracking, feedback, dashboards, and internal tools.

Your job is to make sure the product is clear, usable, polished, and shipped properly.

What You’ll Do
1. Design Product Flows and Interfaces

You will design simple, clear, and high-quality product experiences. You should be able to take a rough idea and turn it into a clear user journey, wireframe, and final Figma design.

This includes:

  • Student dashboard
  • Course and lesson pages
  • Mission submission flows
  • XP, streaks, levels, and progress tracking
  • Feedback and review flows
  • Admin and internal tools
  • Mobile and desktop experiences
  • Empty states, error states, and loading states

  • 2. Turn Ideas Into Clear Requirements

You will help turn product ideas into clear scopes for developers. You do not need to code, but you must be comfortable working closely with developers.

    This includes:

    • Breaking down features into clear tasks
    • Writing simple product requirements
    • Clarifying what needs to be built
    • Defining edge cases
    • Preparing design handoff
    • Making sure developers understand the expected outcome

    3. Manage Product Execution

You will help keep product work organized and moving. You should be someone who can bring structure without needing constant reminders.

    This includes:

    • Tracking product tasks
    • Following up with developers
    • Checking progress
    • Identifying blockers
    • Updating the team on what is done, pending, or delayed
    • Making sure product improvements are shipped on time

    4. QA Before Features Go Live

You will test product features before students use them. You should care about product quality and details, but also know how to move fast.

    This includes checking:

    • Does the feature work as intended?
    • Does the user flow make sense?
    • Is the UI consistent?
    • Are there bugs?
    • Are error, empty, and loading states handled?
    • Is the feature ready for students?

    5. Improve the Student Experience

You will use feedback from students, coaches, and the internal team to improve Sigmo.

Your goal is to make the platform easier to use, more motivating, and more effective for learning.

    This includes improving:

    • How students know what to do next
    • How students track their progress
    • How students submit work
    • How students receive feedback
    • How students stay accountable
    • How students recover when stuck
    What Success Looks Like

You are successful in this role if:

    • Product ideas become clear designs and tasks quickly
    • Developers know exactly what to build
    • Features ship with fewer misunderstandings
    • Bugs and UX issues are caught before students see them
    • The platform becomes easier and more enjoyable to use
    • Students know what to do next inside Sigmo
    • The founder does not need to personally chase every product detail
    Requirements

    You should have:

    • Strong product design skills
    • Good UX and UI taste
    • Experience using Figma
    • Ability to turn vague ideas into clear flows
    • Ability to write simple product requirements
    • Strong project management and follow-up skills
    • Good communication with developers
    • High attention to detail
    • Strong ownership and accountability
    • Ability to work in a fast-moving startup environment

    Bonus if you have:

    • Experience with edtech, learning platforms, SaaS, or bootcamps
    • Experience designing dashboards, progress systems, or gamified products
    • Experience working with technical teams
    • Basic understanding of software development workflows
    • Interest in AI-native products, education, and careers
    Tools You May Use
    • Figma
    • Plane.so
    • WhatsApp
    • Loom
    • Google Sheets
    • ChatGPT / Claude
    • QA checklists
    • Product analytics tools
    Who This Role Is For

This role is for someone who enjoys both design and execution. You should enjoy making things clear, organized, and easy to use. You should be able to take unclear product ideas and turn them into something developers can build.

You should be the kind of person who asks:

    • What problem are we solving?
    • What should the user do next?
    • What can go wrong?
    • What does the developer need to know?
    • How do we know this is ready to ship?
    • How do we make this simpler?
Who This Role Is Not For

This role is not for someone who only wants to make beautiful screens. It is also not for someone who needs a very structured corporate environment. Sigmo is still early. Things will be messy. Priorities may change. You need to be comfortable creating structure, following up, and pushing work forward.

    Example Projects

You may work on projects like:

    • Redesigning the student dashboard
    • Improving the lesson experience
    • Designing the mission submission flow
    • Improving XP, streaks, and levels
    • Creating better student progress tracking
    • Improving admin tools for the internal team
    • Creating QA checklists before releases
    • Turning founder ideas into product specs
    • Coordinating developers to ship weekly product improvements
