Job Description
The NOC scope of RAN, Transmission/Transport & Security Monitoring Engineer is responsible for the 24x7 monitoring, fault management, incident handling, and service assurance of Radio Access Network (RAN), Transmission/Transport infrastructure, Enterprise Services, and Security Operations. The role ensures network availability, service continuity, security event visibility, and timely incident resolution in accordance with established KPIs and SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage network alarms, events, and ticketing systems for RAN, Transmission, Transport, and Enterprise Services.
- Perform first-level troubleshooting and fault isolation for LTE, 5G, Microwave (MW), Fiber, and transport network issues.
- Execute corrective actions and coordinate with relevant support teams to restore services within agreed SLA targets.
- Conduct network audits, performance monitoring, and analysis to ensure network and service KPI targets are achieved.
- Proactively identify network degradation, potential outages, and capacity issues, and initiate preventive actions.
- Escalate critical incidents and provide timely notifications to management and relevant stakeholders during service disruptions.
- Maintain end-to-end ownership of incidents from detection through resolution and closure with high-quality documentation.
- Ensure efficient shift handovers by providing accurate and comprehensive updates on ongoing incidents, network status, and pending actions.
- Follow up proactively on alarms, events, escalations, emails, and tickets with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
- Support service and network availability by continuously monitoring network health and operational performance.
- Adhere to organizational policies, operational procedures, and NOC processes.
- Collaborate with RAN, Core, IP, Transmission, Field Operations, and Vendor teams to resolve complex network issues.
- Participate in service restoration activities, maintenance support, and major incident management as required.
- Perform Security Monitoring by continuously monitoring security alerts, events, and dashboards from SIEM, SOC, NMS, and security monitoring tools.
- Identify, acknowledge, classify, and log security incidents according to established operational procedures.
- Perform initial triage and validation of security alarms to distinguish genuine threats from false positives.
- Escalate suspicious activities, cybersecurity incidents, suspected attacks, malware alerts, unauthorized access attempts, and policy violations to L1 Security Operations or Cybersecurity Teams.
- Monitor critical security infrastructure including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN gateways, authentication systems, endpoint security platforms, and security monitoring solutions.
- Ensure timely notification and escalation of security incidents based on defined severity levels and incident management processes.
- Maintain security event records, incident logs, and shift reports for audit and compliance purposes.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Telecommunications, RAN, Transmission, Transport, Security Operations Center (SOC) or Network Operations environment.
- Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting LTE, 5G, Microwave, Fiber, and Transport networks is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of LTE and 5G network architecture, services, applications, and performance indicators.
- Basic knowledge of 5G nodes, transport networks, and service delivery architecture.
- Knowledge of Microwave (MW), Fiber Optic, and Transmission network technologies.
- Understanding of network fault management, alarm monitoring, ticketing systems, and incident management processes.
- Ability to interpret network KPIs, service performance indicators, and fault diagnostics.
- Familiarity with NMS/EMS platforms and telecom monitoring tools is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of Security Operations, SIEM platforms, firewall monitoring, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and cybersecurity incident handling.
Salary package:
- Salary RM2800 - RM3400/month
