Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description Woodsfield Group of Companies began in 1998 as a timber trading business supplying the Oil & Gas, Railway, and Construction industries in Malaysia. The company has steadily expanded its operations and capabilities, evolving from a traditional timber supplier into a provider of engineered wood products. Today, Woodsfield offers finger-jointed timber for non-structural applications and glulam (glulaminated) timber for structural projects. This growth reflects a commitment to quality, innovation, and long-term partnerships across multiple industrial sectors. Team members join a company that continues to modernize and diversify within the timber and construction materials industry.
Role Description The Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Pasir Gudang. This position is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and optimization of timber and structural projects, including finger-jointed and glulam products. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing technical drawings and specifications, coordinating with production teams, monitoring quality and safety standards, and assisting in resolving engineering issues on the shop floor or project sites. The Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, enhance product performance, and ensure projects meet industry codes and client requirements. The role also involves preparing technical documentation and reports, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and providing technical input during project planning and execution.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles, preferably in civil, structural, mechanical, or related disciplines, with the ability to apply them to timber and construction applications.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and project specifications, with familiarity in CAD or similar design tools considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing or production processes, quality control, and safety standards within industrial or construction environments.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify technical issues, propose practical solutions, and support continuous improvement.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with production staff, suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on-site in Pasir Gudang, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related field; relevant industry experience in timber, construction, or manufacturing is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, industry regulations, and standards for structural materials is beneficial.
