Responsibilities

Objectives of the Position

Global Customs Operations (Executive) is responsible for customs related activities served out via Kuala Lumpur Asia Pacific Service Centre (Hub). The role’s objectives:

  • To enable business focus and delivery of service excellence from the hub to support business needs.
  • To support hub customs operations related service requests.
  • To support compliance within BASF supply chain operational processes regarding Foreign Trade (Customs and Trade Control).
  • To support any improvement and process implementation to ensure an agreed service level and in compliance with governmental regulations and BASF company policies.

M ain Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

. Delivery of Customs service to business

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal working partners in support of trade compliance, supply chain, and general company objectives and projects
  • Support business unit queries related to customs relevant activities.
  • Respond promptly to requests and urgent issues.
  • Hub Customs operational responsibilities:
  • Support hub operational service activities including customs import/ export related documentation, issuance and verification, and duty rate maintenance in SAP or customized database
  • Perform Customs Documentation review and validate all import and export documentations to ensure data accuracy and comply with customs laws and regulations regardless of whether from global or local country perspective
  • Support process improvement projects
  • Monitor regulatory changes and take prompt action to comply with the latest requirements.
  • Support the data preparation required for dashboards
  • Support the standardization of reporting of departmental and organizational measurements
  • Support the automation of routine data collection
  • Support the process documentations (Standard Operating Procedure, Work Guide, Work Instruction) for customs hub operations
  • Proactively address and resolve any discrepancies or customs-related issues (e.g., delayed shipments, missing documentation, tariff classification mismatch, etc.) by troubleshooting the root cause and communicating clearly with relevant parties
  • Customs Compliance responsibilities:
  • Support Customs Compliance related assessment, health checks, audit and its documentation
  • Support operational and service documentation including Standard Operating Procedure, Work Instructions, Work Guide
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant customs regulations, trade laws and tariff schedules
  • Process and system improvement responsibilities
  • Support any digitalization initiatives or automation for customs process and operations
  • Support any system upgrade or enhancement related review and testing

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any technical discipline, preferably Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience in Customs and Foreign Trade; familiar with Supply Chain operations
  • Experience in customs, trade law and practices of chemical and non-chemical products is desirable
  • Must be able to be flexible with EMEA working hours
