Key Responsibilities:
1. Solar PV System Design & Layout
- Design grid-connected solar PV systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects.
- Develop efficient PV array layouts, optimizing space utilization and maximizing energy yield under tropical climate conditions.
- Perform accurate inverter sizing, string configuration, and balance-of-system (BOS) equipment selection.
- Plan effective DC/AC cable routing, containment layouts, and wiring configurations.
2. Engineering Drawings & Software Documentation
- Prepare complete engineering drawing packages using AutoCAD and/or OpenSolar.
- Generate high-precision PV Layout Drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Panel Schedules, and Electrical Schematics.
- Ensure all technical calculations and component specifications are flawlessly integrated across layouts and SLDs.
3. Electrical Calculations & Performance Analysis
- Execute precise calculations: string sizing, inverter loading, cable sizing, and voltage drop calculations.
- Conduct protection device sizing and coordination studies (MCB, MCCB, Isolators, SPD).
- Run advanced solar energy yield assessments and Performance Ratio (PR) analysis to minimize system losses.
4. BOQ/BOM Preparation & Procurement Support
- Compile detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Bills of Materials (BOM) for all components (modules, inverters, structures, cables, and safety devices).
- Act as the technical bridge for procurement teams to ensure component specifications match design intents.
5. Regulatory Compliance & Field Collaboration
- Ensure strict compliance with Malaysian Standards (MS, MS1837, MS2692) and International Codes (IEC, NEC).
- Align all designs with SEDA, TNB guidelines, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations.
- Support project teams during installation, ensuring AC-side grid connections are safely prepared for execution by licensed electricians.
- Participate actively in the testing, commissioning (T&C), and final acceptance testing of GCPV systems.
6. Proposals & Stakeholder Reporting
- Draft compelling technical proposals, feasibility studies, and engineering briefs for corporate clients.
- Maintain organized engineering documentation, including as-built drawings, submission files, and technical record revisions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Engineering / Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics, Applied Physics, Industrial Physics) or equivalent recognized by SEDA Malaysia.
- Proven knowledge or certification in Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) system design (completion of SEDA Malaysia GCPV Systems Design Course is a strong advantage).
- Proficient in electrical design software and solar PV system simulation tools.
- Understanding of Malaysian electrical codes, standards, and renewable energy regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to solve technical problems and perform system sizing calculations.
- Good command in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin will be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel for site assessments and project supervision.
