Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall ownership of workshop operations, including repair planning, manpower allocation, and job prioritization.
  • Drive maximum truck availability by minimizing downtime and ensuring timely repair completion.
  • Establish and enforce a full repair tracking system from job initiation to completion with clear visibility.
  • Monitor and improve workshop productivity, including output per mechanic and turnaround time.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance planning and execution (servicing, 3B – Bush, Bearing, Brake, and greasing).
  • Ensure strict compliance with maintenance schedules and follow up on overdue servicing.
  • Implement cost control measures covering labour, spare parts, and external repair expenses.
  • Ensure proper technical assessment of issues (minor vs major) and decision-making on repair approach.
  • Work closely with operations/planning team to ensure truck readiness aligns with daily deployment needs.
  • Work alongside with store management and inventory control to prevent wastage and stock discrepancies.
  • Implement structured workflows, SOPs, and reporting systems across workshop and fleet operations.
  • Ensure workshop safety standards, housekeeping (5S), and regulatory compliance are maintained.
  • Supervise, lead, and develop workshop staff, including performance monitoring and discipline.
  • Provide regular reports to management on truck availability, repair status, maintenance compliance, and cost performance.

Scope Clarification

This role focuses on fleet (vehicle) performance, workshop operations, and maintenance control. Driver management (e.g., recruitment, leave, discipline, and training) is handled separately by the Driver Management function.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in heavy vehicle workshop or fleet maintenance management.
  • Strong leadership experience managing mechanics and workshop teams.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge of heavy vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical skills in cost control, productivity, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience in implementing systems, SOPs, and structured workflows.
  • Able to enforce discipline and drive accountability within the team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or workshop management systems.
  • Results-driven, structured, and operationally hands-on.

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
