Data Centre Technician (Network Infrastructure)
Location: Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Employment: 12-Month Renewable Contract
Work Pattern: 9am-6pm, 5-days work week
Salary: RM5,000 – RM7,000 (Depending on Experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a Data Centre Technician (Network Infrastructure) to support the day-to-day operation of a hyperscale data centre. This role requires a hands-on engineer with experience in data centre operations, server hardware support, and basic network infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with network engineers, project teams, vendors, and customers to ensure reliable operation of mission-critical infrastructure while supporting deployments, maintenance, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Data Centre Operations
- Perform daily operational checks and routine inspections within the data centre.
- Support rack & stack, server installation, decommissioning, and equipment relocation.
- Perform break-fix activities, hardware replacement, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Support Remote Hands and Smart Hands activities for customers and internal teams.
- Maintain asset inventory, equipment records, and lifecycle documentation.
Network Infrastructure Support
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and structured cabling.
- Support fibre patching, cross-connects, cable verification, and network connectivity testing.
- Work with Network Engineers during implementation, migration, and maintenance activities.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting related to connectivity, VLANs, routing, switching, and IP addressing.
- Assist with network hardware replacement and post-maintenance verification.
Operations & Maintenance
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Respond to alarms, incidents, and service requests according to operational procedures.
- Update tickets, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders during maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, safety standards, and security requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in:
- Data Centre Operations
- Smart Hands / Remote Hands
- Server Hardware Support
- Network Infrastructure Support
- IT Infrastructure Operations
- Good understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- IP Addressing & Subnetting
- VLANs
- Routing & Switching (basic knowledge)
- Structured Cabling
- Fibre Optic Connectivity
- Network Hardware Installation
- Experience performing rack & stack, hardware break-fix, and server installation.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems, asset management, and operational documentation.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Willing to support shift work and after-hours maintenance when required.

Candidates with experience in hyperscale or enterprise data centre environments such as:
