Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented and experienced Senior Account Executive (GL & Reporting) to join our dynamic Finance team. The Senior Executive, GL, reporting acts as the central financial guardian for assigned subsidiaries. Instead of merely preparing records, this role heavily emphasizes cross-border liaison, verifying the work of subsidiary accounting teams, enforcing strict alignment with Group Financial Policies, and conducting rigorous analytical reviews of their month-end closing submissions.

Job Responsibilities Description

1. Cross-Border Liaison & Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary financial bridge and key point of contact between the Malaysian Regional Headquarters and subsidiary finance teams.
  • Conduct regular alignment meetings with controllers to clarify Group expectations, address local workflow blockages, and resolve operational accounting issues.
  • Guide subsidiaries finance teams on reporting timelines, formatting requirements, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

2. Group Policy Enforcement & Governance

  • Monitor subsidiaries to ensure all accounting treatments strictly align with Group Accounting Policies, Internal Controls, and Global Corporate Governance.
  • Identify gaps where subsidiary practices drift from Group mandates and enforce corrective action plans.
  • Monitor transaction flows to ensure adherence to Group transfer pricing documentation, intercompany agreements, and standardized Chart of Accounts (COA).

3. Oversight & Review of Subsidiary Accounts

  • Review and evaluate the month-end closing accounts, comprehensive income statement, statement of position and cash flow statement submitted by local subsidiary accountants.
  • Challenge local accounting assumptions, investigate unusual variances, and verify that all balance sheet accounts are supported by robust reconciliations.
  • Check intercompany reconciliations submitted by entities, ensuring all cross-border mismatches are flagged, investigated, and fully eliminated prior to consolidation.

4. Advanced Financial Reporting & Consolidation

  • Synthesize subsidiary data to prepare monthly variance analyses and high-level management commentary for presentation to Group Executives.
  • Oversee and streamline the global audit process by acting as the main interface between regional external auditors and local subsidiary teams.

5. Strategic & Risk Support

  • Feasibility & Expansion Studies: Provide historical financial data and regional compliance insights if the company plans to expand or set up new corporate entities in adjacent territories.

6. Others Corporate Restructuring Projects:

  • Support global finance projects such as corporate restructuring, subsidiary liquidations, or integration of newly acquired entities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support non-finance business units (such as Global Procurement, Legal, or HR) on cross-border operational issues involving invoicing, contracts, or regional payroll funding.
  • To assist in ad hoc assignments that may arise from time to time

Person Specifications Education & Qualification

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor Degree/Professional Degree in Finance/Accountancy or a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA member)

Relevant Experience & Years of Service

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in financial accounting, with a heavy emphasis on regional oversight, consolidation, or financial auditing.
  • Experience working in an MNC or regional hub handling remote teams is highly critical.

Technical Skills, Professional Knowledge & Competencies

  • Strong mastery of global accounting frameworks (IFRS/GAAP) paired with strong analytical capabilities (financial modeling, ratio analysis, data validation).
  • Ability to establish priorities and work within tight deadlines
  • Proactive, independent and detail-oriented • Possess a pleasant personality and willing to learn attitude
  • Exceptional English capability with the professional maturity to firmly enforce group standards and call out accounting discrepancies with overseas partners.
  • High alertness for irregularities, gaps in documentation, or un-reconciled aging balances.
