Job Description

Responsibilities

A. JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The Associate, Finance is responsible for supporting the company’s financial operations through accurate processing of transactions, account reconciliations, and timely reporting. The incumbent will assist in budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulations. This position also involves maintaining organized financial records, managing communication with clients and vendors, and supporting internal controls to safeguard company assets. In addition, the role plays a key part in project execution by monitoring financial performance, controlling costs, and ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets to maintain overall financial discipline and profitability.

B. JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Manage and process day-to-day financial transactions such as invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system.
2. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, supplier ledgers, and customer accounts. Identify discrepancies and coordinate with relevant parties to resolve them promptly.
3. Support the finance team during month-end closing activities, including the preparation of journal entries, financial reports, and supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
4. Ensure all financial documents and records are organized, updated, and compliant with company policies and relevant regulations. Prepare and provide documentation
for internal and external audits when required.
5. Support budgeting and forecasting activities by preparing financial data, reports, and variance analysis for management review.
6. Handle communication with clients and vendors regarding billing, payments, and related inquiries, ensuring all financial correspondence is clear, accurate, and professionally managed.
7. Assist in maintaining compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements. Contribute to the implementation and enhancement of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
8. Monitor project financial performance, manage cost control activities, and ensure expenditure remains within approved budgets. Coordinate with project teams to track progress, report variances, support billing, and ensure timely project closure while maintaining financial discipline and profitability.

C. JOB SPECIFICATION

1. Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (preferred).

2. Experiences

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in accounting or financial operations.
  • Experience in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Familiarity with basic financial regulations and procedures.

3. Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to financial operations.

4. Qualities

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

5. Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

- 2–3 years of accounting or finance experience

- Experience with accounting software (SAP, QuickBooks, or similar)

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

- ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage
