Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced IT Security Officer to join our team and lead the protection of mission-critical IT and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems supporting weather observation, forecasting, environmental monitoring, and data dissemination platforms.

This role requires a strong cybersecurity background combined with hands-on experience in securing OT/ICS environments, implementing security frameworks, managing security incidents, and maintaining compliance with government and industry standards. Candidates with experience in critical infrastructure, government, utilities, or scientific environments will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity policies, standards, and security controls across IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
• Monitor security events using SIEM, IDS/IPS, Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), and other security monitoring tools.
• Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation activities.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, penetration testing coordination, and security audits.
• Secure Operational Technology (OT), SCADA, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) infrastructure from cyber threats.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks including NIST, FISMA, IEC 62443, and government security requirements.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, cloud, and application teams to design secure solutions and implement security best practices.
• Support business continuity, disaster recovery planning, and cyber resilience initiatives.
• Review system architecture and recommend security improvements to minimize operational risk.
• Prepare security reports, compliance documentation, and executive-level risk assessments.
• Conduct cybersecurity awareness sessions and provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Participate in security incident response activities and provide support during critical operational events.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT Security, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or Operational Technology (OT) Security.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Security Information & Event Management (SIEM)
• Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
• Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
• Vulnerability Management
• Security Monitoring & Incident Response
• Strong understanding of:
• Network Security
• Firewalls
• Identity & Access Management (IAM)
• Threat Detection & Incident Response
• Experience securing SCADA, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or Operational Technology (OT) environments.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, and IEC 62443.
• Ability to obtain or currently possess the required Government Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting critical infrastructure, government agencies, utilities, aviation, scientific research, or environmental monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with meteorological systems, remote sensing technologies, radar systems, or environmental monitoring infrastructure.
• Experience securing cloud environments including AWS and Microsoft Azure (Government Cloud preferred).
• Knowledge of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) standards and weather data exchange protocols.
• Experience working within 24x7 mission-critical operational environments.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates should possess one or more of the following certifications:

• CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
• CISM – Certified Information Security Manager
• CEH – Certified Ethical Hacker
• GICSP – Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (Highly Preferred)

Experience:

• IT Security Officer: 5 years (Required)
• CISSP/CISM/CEH/GICSP: 1 year (Required)
• SIEM platforms: 1 year (Required)
