The Internal Security Department (ISD) confronts and addresses threats to Singapore’s internal security and stability. For over 75 years, ISD and its predecessor organisations have played a central role in countering threats such as those posed by foreign subversive elements, spies, racial and religious extremists, and terrorists. Data is integral to ISD’s operations. As the use of data and analytics grows, having a vigorous data security and management regime becomes even more essential to enable secure data operations. You will join the Data and AI Governance unit that reports to the Chief Data Officer (CDO), where you will work together with like-minded data governance professionals and data security experts. Depending on your interests and aptitude, you will have the opportunity to learn and gain valuable experience in a broad spectrum of data-related roles, ranging from Data and AI policy formulation, security risk consultancy, data asset management and data strategy development. You will also work with cross-functional teams to offer guidance on data security, compliance and risks as we continue to leverage data, analytics and AI to bolster our operational effectiveness.
What You Will Be Working On
Our team enables multimodal sensemaking capabilities for the entire organisation, through the development of systems using state-of-the-art multimodal AI models. This includes working with transformer-based models for the various data modalities (audio, image and video), high-performance inference frameworks such as vLLMs and interoperability standards such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Capabilities are to be manifested as agentic tools, platform features or even upstream data processing. Depending on your level of experience, you will be helping to:
- Design, develop, deploy, and/or manage (parts of) the multimodal AI solutions both upstream and downstream
- Recommend, evaluate, adopt, integrate, and/or build on new AI and LLM technologies and frameworks
- Work with end-users, data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, product designers and project managers in the planning, development, delivery and maintenance of AI-powered solutions
- Lead projects, mentor juniors, make technical decisions, and/or formulate strategies

What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Data Science, Signal Processing or equivalent competencies
- Resourceful and meticulous professionals who are passionate about delivering AI-powered capabilities
- Able to work independently and in teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to keep the overarching objectives and constraints of the project in mind while pursuing the technical details
- Competent in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Scala, JavaScript). Interest and ability to gain expertise in other programming languages, frameworks, and technologies
- Able to contribute to architecting and engineering for AI would be a strong plus
- Knowledge and experience with any of the following software engineering domains would be an advantage:
- Web development
- End-to-end implementation of production-grade solutions, optimized for scalability, stability and performance
- Big data technologies
- Container technologies
- Data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Design, implement, and evaluate deep learning algorithms and models
- Signal processing and querying (noise reduction, diarisation etc)
- Computer Vision foundational concepts
- Vision-langauge models
- Image preprocessing and retrieval (semantic and visual retrieval, detection, embeddings etc)
- Video preprocessing and retrieval (temporal context, clip-level indexing)
