About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced journalist to support Stomp’s editorial leadership and help ensure consistently high standards across the newsroom. This role works closely with the Editor and serves as the central editorial quality lead for all content published by Stomp. You will play a key role in maintaining editorial rigour, ensuring stories are accurate, well-framed, and aligned with Stomp’s voice and standards.

As Content Editor, you will act as a senior editorial gatekeeper, working across news, features, and user-generated content to ensure everything that goes live is clear, well-framed, responsible, and on-brand. You will also help uphold editorial processes, house style, and SOPs across the team, and will step in operationally when required.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to move comfortably across fast-turnaround news, community submissions, and original reporting.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Act as a senior editorial gatekeeper, copy-editing and reviewing stories before publication to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency
• Ensure adherence to editorial standards, house style, and newsroom SOPs across all content
• Work closely with the Editor to maintain consistent editorial judgment and tone across the site
• Support and guide Assistant Editors and writers across content pillars, advising on framing, structure, and tone
• Step in to edit or manage viral news, user-generated content, or original stories during peak periods, breaking news, or manpower gaps
• Review and help refine story pitches when required, particularly for sensitive, complex or opinion-led pieces
• Work with the social media team to ensure stories are packaged accurately and responsibly
• Monitor reader response and performance trends to inform editorial improvements
• Flag potential legal, reputational, or ethical risks and ensure content is handled appropriately
• Support newsroom operations where necessary or when senior cover is required

Job Requirements

• Has 6-8 years of experience in journalism or digital news, with strong editing and newsroom experience
• Has excellent news judgment and a clear understanding of journalistic ethics and standards
• Is meticulous and detail-oriented, with a strong instinct for spotting risks, gaps, or inconsistencies
• Is a confident editor who can quickly identify weak framing and sharpen stories
• Understands Stomp’s audience and knows how to shape stories for everyday Singaporeans
• Is comfortable editing both longer-form pieces and quick, time-sensitive stories.
• Communicates clearly, calmly, and constructively with writers
• Is adaptable, steady under pressure, and comfortable making editorial calls
• Is open to weekend duties and dynamic newsroom demands
