Responsibilities
Overview
A global apparel sourcing organisation is looking for a Raw Material Technologist to support its fabric sourcing and development function.
This role focuses on material innovation, supplier management, and quality risk control , working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑performance fabrics are developed, approved, and delivered seamlessly across production cycles .
Key Responsibilities
Manage fabric sourcing and development from concept to bulk production
Identify, onboard and maintain fabric / yarn / chemical suppliers across Asia
Review material specifications, cost, lead time, and feasibility
Drive material optimisation and re‑engineering initiatives
Conduct risk assessment on raw materials and ensure quality compliance
Partner with QA teams on testing, approvals, and bulk performance
Troubleshoot technical issues related to fabric construction and performance
Collaborate closely with design, merchandising, and production teams
Maintain accurate material data in PLM / internal systems
What We're Looking For
Minimum 4-6 years' experience in fabric sourcing / material development / technical role
Strong knowledge in knit fabrics (e.g. jersey, fleece, terry) is highly preferred
Solid understanding of fabric construction, dyeing, finishing, and testing standards
Proven experience working with mill partners and regional supplier base
Hands-on exposure to manufacturing / technical problem solving
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
