Role Description The Bus Captain role at SBS Transit Ltd is a full-time, on-site position based in Bedok. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating buses along assigned routes, ensuring safe driving practices, and adhering to scheduled arrival and departure times. The Bus Captain will assist passengers with boarding and alighting, provide basic route and service information, and maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times. The role also involves conducting pre-journey vehicle checks, reporting any operational or safety issues, and complying with company policies and local transport regulations. Bus Captains are expected to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to support continuous service operations.
Qualifications

• Possess a valid bus or heavy vehicle driving license and a strong driving record demonstrating safe and responsible road behavior.
• Demonstrate good customer service skills, including clear communication, patience, and the ability to assist passengers of diverse backgrounds and needs.
• Show awareness of basic vehicle safety checks and willingness to follow operational and safety procedures consistently.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, with reliability and punctuality.
• Comfortable working in an on-site, fast-paced environment and collaborating with operations staff and other Bus Captains.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read route information, schedules, and complete simple reports or logs.
• Prior experience in driving public transport or large vehicles is beneficial but not mandatory; training may be provided.
• Commitment to safety, service excellence, and respectful interaction with colleagues and passengers.
