Job Summary:
The Haulage Supervisor is responsible for end-to-end management of haulage operations, including planning, monitoring (control), and execution. This role ensures efficient truck utilization, timely container movement, and smooth coordination between drivers, warehouse, and customers. The position works closely with the Haulage Executive, complementing each other to ensure seamless daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Haulage Planning & Scheduling
Plan daily haulage schedule (port collection, warehouse delivery, customer delivery, empty return)
Allocate trucks and drivers efficiently based on priority and location
Optimize trips per truck and minimize empty runs
Prioritize urgent containers and delivery orders
2. Operations Monitoring & Control
Monitor real-time truck movement via GPS and updates from drivers
Track trip progress and ensure timely completion
Identify delays (port congestion, traffic, breakdown) and take corrective action
Ensure container return within free time to avoid detention/demurrage
3. Execution & Coordination
Supervise daily haulage execution and ensure plans are followed
Coordinate closely with warehouse, port, and customer service teams
Provide real-time updates on delivery status and operational issues
Ensure smooth handover between planning and execution
4. Driver & Fleet Management
Manage driver allocation, discipline, and performance
Ensure drivers comply with SOP, safety, and company policies
Ensure driver documentation (license, GDL) is valid
Monitor truck condition and coordinate maintenance/repair
5. Documentation & System Control
Ensure all transport activities are properly recorded (trip logs, movement tracking)
Ensure DO and POD are properly managed and returned on time
Update and monitor data in system (e.g., Sage X3 / tracking system)
6. Coordination with Haulage Executive
Work closely with Haulage Executive on planning and monitoring tasks
Delegate and share workload effectively
Ensure both roles complement each other to maintain smooth operations
Provide guidance and support to Haulage Executive
7. KPI Monitoring & Reporting
Track KPIs such as:
Trips per truck
On-time delivery
Truck utilization
Container turnaround time
Prepare daily and weekly transport reports
Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
8. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with JPJ, APAD, and company policies
Enforce safe driving and loading practices
Conduct basic safety briefings
Job Requirements:
Diploma or equivalent in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain
Minimum 3–5 years experience in haulage, transport, or logistics operations
Strong knowledge of container movement and port operations (e.g., Port Klang)
Experience in transport planning, scheduling, and real-time monitoring
Familiar with GPS tracking systems and transport planning tools
Knowledge of JPJ and APAD regulations
Experience using ERP/WMS systems (e.g., Sage X3)
Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills
Good communication and coordination skills
Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Able to perform planning, control, and execution roles effectively in a lean team structure
Able to work closely with Haulage Executive and complement each other’s tasks
