Job Description

Responsibilities

Applied Angstrom Technology is a start-up semiconductor equipment company with headquarters in Singapore. The Mechanical Engineer will have the opportunity to design and test mechanical components and submodules of new semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The role will partner with senior engineers to brainstorm concepts, conduct feasibility studies, work on 3D modeling and part prototyping.

The ideal candidate shall be able to perform the following: 

  • Translate concept to practical design with minimal guidance 

  • 3D modeling of complex parts and assemblies using one of the commercial software 

  • Create detailed drawing from 3D models with minimum errors, apply GD&T 

  • Good knowledge in materials property (especially metal and ceramic) 

  • Define, perform engineering test for design validation 

  • Collect and analyze complex data and make informed decisions 

  • Own and document engineering changes, perform version controls 

  • Partner with Materials program manager to source parts, oversee part assembly 

  • Communicate with suppliers to solve manufacturing problems  

  • Perform root cause analysis and FMECA, provide and execute improvement plans 

  • Create and present documents, reports to colleagues and external stakeholders  

Job Qualifications: 

  • BS is minimum, Master is preferred, in the area of Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Physical Science or related field of study 

  • 3-5 years of direct experience in mechanical design, 3D modeling, hands-on experience of performing engineering test (mechanical, electrical, flow, or thermal) 

  • Experience in semiconductor industry is a plus 

  • Ability to navigate a dynamic and at times ambiguous environment that requires frequent multitasking, prioritization, and a proactive mentality 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of internal partners, team members, and suppliers 

  • Self-starting individual, with ability to take initiative and work independently 

  • Proven relationship management skills, including to navigate the organization and influence decisions
