About The Role
We are expanding our agentic delivery capability within the Health and Public Services portfolio and are looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join the team. This is a hands-on, client-facing role focused on designing and implementing agentic systems with both autonomous and semi-autonomous agents to support delivery for government and public sector clients. The position involves establishing patterns, guardrails, and governance to enable scalable solutions across multiple engagements. The role will be embedded with delivery teams and clients, building agents that transform work into repeatable capabilities.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and deploy agentic systems (single and multi-agent) to automate key aspects of public service delivery
Develop reference architectures, tools, and reusable patterns for agentic delivery in public sector, defense, and public safety contexts
Create robust evaluation frameworks, observability tools, and guardrails to ensure agent behavior is measurable, safe, and reliable in production
Establish governance for autonomy levels, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and escalation protocols, especially in regulated environments
Select and integrate appropriate technologies for each use case (agent harnesses, IDE-based agents, cloud agents, orchestration frameworks)
Coach delivery teams on agentic engineering best practices and contribute to capability maturity
Required Qualifications
4–8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering production systems
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable operating independently in client-facing, ambiguous environments
Hands-on experience developing agentic systems using LLMs, including tool use, function calling, multi-step reasoning, and orchestration
Highly proficient in Python, Java, React and/or TypeScript
Experience designing evaluation and guardrail mechanisms for non-deterministic AI systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with agent frameworks and harnesses, vector databases, RAG, and orchestration tools
Background in consulting, solutions engineering, or technical delivery leadership
Demonstrated success in building reusable capabilities, accelerators, or internal tools that scale across teams
Previous experience delivering technology solutions for public sector or government clients
Understanding of security posture and policies for public service, defense, and public safety environments
Familiarity with the public sector technology stack
