Key Responsibilities:
1. Server Management
- Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.
- Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Perform routine server maintenance tasks like backups, updates, and patches.
2. Network Administration
- Design, configure, and maintain SCS' network infrastructure.
- Manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
3. Security Management
- Implement and enforce security policies and best practices.
- Monitor systems for security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Install and configure security software and firewalls.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments.
4. User Support
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
- Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Train employees on using IT resources effectively and securely.
5. Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Regularly back up critical data and test restore procedures.
- Ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures or disasters.
6. System Documentation
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Keep an inventory of hardware and software assets
7. Automation & Scripting
- Write scripts and automate routine tasks to improve efficiency.
- Implement configuration management tools for infrastructure as code.
8. Software & Patch Management
- Manage software installations and updates.
- Apply security patches and updates in a timely manner.
9. Monitoring & Reporting
- Set up monitoring tools to track system performance and up-time.
- Generate and analyse reports to identify trends and potential issues.
10. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with other IT teams and departments to meet SCS' goals.
- Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualification & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and network protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, IBM, Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Certified Information Systems Security Professional) may be beneficial.
