Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

To assist the Rail Unit Engineer in carrying out site inspections, monitoring MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) works, and ensuring all maintenance activities are performed according to approved standards, safety requirements, and project specifications. The role requires strong technical awareness, good communication with contractors, and consistent reporting on site progress.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Site Inspection & Monitoring

  • Attend daily site inspections for all MRO activities as instructed by the Engineer or Client’s Site Officer/Site Owner Representative (SO/SOR).
  • Inspect and monitor MRO works at site level to ensure they are carried out safely and in compliance with the approved specifications.
  • Record site observations, take photos, and report any non-compliance or defects to the Engineer immediately.

2. Coordination with Contractor

  • Assist in coordinating daily work activities between the MRO Contractor and the Rail Unit team.
  • Attend site meetings with the MRO Contractor to discuss progress, technical issues, and proposed solutions.
  • Support the Engineer in verifying progress claims or work completion before approval.

3. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports on site activities, work progress, and issues encountered.
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials or data updates for internal reporting.
  • Where required, review and confirm daily/weekly/monthly reports submitted by the MRO Contractor.

4. Testing & Commissioning (T&C)

  • Attend and assist in testing and commissioning activities as scheduled by the MRO Contractor, Client, or Rail Unit Engineer.
  • Ensure testing procedures are followed according to safety and technical requirements.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all site activities are performed in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents to the Engineer.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to site safety rules.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or related technical field.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in site supervision, maintenance, or infrastructure repair work (preferably rail-related or industrial facilities).
  • Basic knowledge of MRO procedures, equipment, and inspection methods.
  • Able to read technical drawings and follow work instructions.
  • Good communication and reporting skills (verbal & written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel to various work sites as required.
