Job Summary

We seek an Assistant Accountant with vessel accounting experience to support financial operations of our fleet. This hands-on role offers growth opportunities in a startup environment, collaborating closely with technical, crewing, and management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining accounts for assigned vessels.
  • Process invoices, payments, and vessel-related expenses (AP/AR) to support timely financial transactions
  • Verify Disbursement Accounts (DA) and port-related invoices for accuracy and compliance
  • Manage accounting for crew payroll, provisions, and port expenses to maintain comprehensive financial records
  • Assist in preparing monthly reports and cost summaries
  • Monitor vessel operating expenses (OPEX) and identify variances to control costs effectively
  • Support vessel budget tracking and periodic forecasts with technical teams.
  • Monitor vessel-level cash flow and ensure timely fund requests for operational expenses
  • Coordinate with technical, crewing, and operations teams to facilitate smooth financial operations
  • Record transactions promptly in the accounting system supported by accurate financial documentation
  • Support audits and perform ad-hoc finance-related tasks to maintain compliance and operational efficiency
  • Execute additional assignments as required to support business needs

Required competencies and certifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in ship management or vessel accounting
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with maritime-specific accounting software and enterprise systems such as XERO or similar
