UST Malaysia Hiring! Full Time Semiconductor Engineering Manager in Pulau Pinang - Ricebowl

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Semiconductor Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team in Penang. The ideal candidate will have strong domain expertise in Physical Design or Design Verification, along with proven leadership capabilities in managing engineering teams and driving delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and oversee semiconductor design activities in:
• Physical Design (PnR, STA, Signoff) or
• Design Verification (RTL/GLS, UVM, coverage-driven verification)
• Provide technical guidance, architecture input, and problem-solving support to engineers
• Ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with project specifications, timelines, and industry standards
• Drive best practices, methodology improvements, and design flow optimization

Team Management & Development

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of semiconductor engineers (PD or DV)
• Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and skill development planning
• Identify skill gaps and implement training/upskilling programs
• Support hiring activities including interviews and onboarding of new team members

Delivery & Project Management

• Plan and manage project schedules, resources, and deliverables
• Track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure on-time delivery
• Work closely with global stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and design processes

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders
• Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and mitigation plans
• Support pre-sales activities, including solutioning and effort estimation

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of experience in Semiconductor industry
• Strong expertise in at least one domain:
• Physical Design (Floorplanning, CTS, Routing, STA, Signoff)
• Design Verification (SystemVerilog, UVM, simulation, debugging)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in team leadership or management (3+ years)
• Hands-on experience in advanced technology nodes (e.g. 16nm, 7nm, below)
• Familiarity with industry tools:
• PD: Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2, PrimeTime
• DV: VCS, Questa, UVM-based environments
• Strong understanding of full chip design flow
• Experience working with global/offshore teams
