JOB SUMMARY
The Production Assistant Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing daily shop-floor operations, ensuring CNC machining processes run efficiently, production targets are met, and the production team is well-managed and developed. The role combines hands-on technical expertise in CNC machining with production planning and people management responsibilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Oversee and support daily production operations across CNC machining (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, and turning) to ensure output meets quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Review, verify, and troubleshoot CAM/NC programs (Mastercam) to ensure machining processes are optimized and production-ready.
- Interpret engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and GD&T requirements to guide machining setup and inspection criteria.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor production activities, allocating manpower, machines, and resources to meet delivery commitments.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, machine downtime, and process issues to minimize disruption and scrap.
- Supervise, guide, and develop machinists, programmers, and production staff, including training, performance evaluation, and discipline.
- Support HR-related functions such as manpower planning, shift scheduling, attendance management, and resolving day-to-day people issues on the floor.
- Collaborate with quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth workflow from planning through to delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cycle time, productivity, tool life, and overall equipment efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards (e.g., AS9100, if applicable).
- Prepare and present production reports, KPIs, and performance updates to senior management.
- Assist in capacity planning and resource allocation for new projects/programs.
- Step in for the Production Manager when required, ensuring continuity of operations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (e.g., 5+ years) in CNC machining, with hands-on knowledge of 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, and turning operations.
- Experience in CAM/NC programming using Mastercam.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Prior experience in production planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Experience in people/HR management, including supervising teams, manpower planning, and performance management.
- Experience in the aerospace industry is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a production team.
- Organized, proactive, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
