About The Company

The Company is a fast-growing technology firm building data and AI products for enterprise and public-sector clients across Malaysia and ASEAN. We're hiring our foundation team and need a skilled Data Engineer to build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers our models, products, and insights.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and operate data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver high-quality data at scale. You'll own data architecture, quality controls, and pipeline reliability for alternative data sources (satellite, telecom, text, financial, geolocation, open data) and ensure data scientists and product teams have clean, trustworthy data to work with.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll set the standard for data quality and reliability across the company.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain data pipelines for satellite imagery, telecom data, text, financial markets, geolocation, and open data sources.
• Design data lake and data warehouse structures with proper lineage, quality controls, and data contracts.
• Support AI and data science teams with curated datasets, feature engineering, and reproducible data preparation.
• Implement data observability — freshness checks, completeness checks, data quality monitoring, and SLA tracking.
• Document pipeline design, dependencies, recovery procedures, and data dictionaries to production standards.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure and costs — track performance, manage dependencies, and improve efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in data engineering, data infrastructure, or analytics engineering.
• Strong Python and SQL — comfortable writing production-grade code.
• Experience with modern data tools — Airflow, Dagster, Spark, dbt, Delta Lake, or Iceberg.
• Cloud data engineering in AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent.
• Strong data quality discipline and documentation habits.
• Comfort working in ambiguous environments and building systems that evolve as requirements become clearer.

Nice to Have

• Experience with alternative data, satellite data, or geospatial data pipelines.
• Exposure to ASEAN data sources and regional data challenges.
• Familiarity with streaming data or real-time pipelines.
• Understanding of data governance and data contracts.
