Responsibilities

Position Overview:
The Senior Technical Editor / Documentation Quality Control Inspector supports the Quality Control Team Leader in ensuring that user manuals and technical documentation for machinery and consumer products are accurate, clear, consistent, complete and compliant with applicable requirements, mainly for the European and US markets. The role combines technical editing, proofreading and documentation quality control. It includes reviewing manuals against legal, regulatory, internal and customer-specific requirements, checking terminology and usability, supporting complex review cases, mentoring team members and contributing to continuous improvement of documentation QC processes. The role acts as a key reference point for editorial and QC-related questions and helps maintain consistent review quality across projects.
Key Areas of Responsibility

Technical Editing, Proofreading and Documentation QC:
  • Edit, proofread and quality-check user manuals and technical documentation for machinery and consumer products, mainly for the European and US markets.
  • Review documents for clarity, accuracy, consistency, completeness, usability and correct technical terminology.
  • Check documentation against applicable legal, regulatory, internal and customer-specific requirements, including relevant European and American standards and regulations for machinery and consumer products.
  • Verify that safety information, warnings, instructions, product specifications, labels and required statements are complete and suitable for the intended market.
  • Apply internal style guides, customer guidelines, terminology rules and QC checklists during the review process.
  • Identify documentation issues, compliance gaps, repeated errors and unclear instructions, and provide clear, constructive feedback to technical editors, writers or other responsible stakeholders.
  • Support difficult or complex review cases and provide guidance on how to assess documentation requirements.
Senior QC Support and Team Guidance:
  • Support the Quality Control Team Leader in guiding the QC team and maintaining consistent review standards.
  • Mentor and support less experienced QC team members by sharing knowledge, review methods and best practices.
  • Help team members understand applicable standards, customer requirements and internal review expectations.
  • Act as a reference point for QC-related questions and support the team in resolving review uncertainties.
  • Promote a quality-focused, detail-oriented and collaborative working approach within the team.
Process Improvement and Coordination:
  • Identify recurring issues, workflow inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement in QC review processes.
  • Support the implementation of improved checklists, review methods, templates and internal guidance.
  • Coordinate, handle and follow up on multiple QC projects at any given time.
  • Prioritise tasks and manage time effectively, especially when handling multiple projects or urgent deadlines.
  • Report significant problems, risks, repeated issues or concerns to the Quality Control Team Leader or senior management.
Client and Internal Communication:
  • Communicate QC findings clearly and professionally to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide constructive feedback to technical writers and other relevant team members.
  • Support client- or project-specific enquiries related to QC findings, documentation quality or compliance requirements when assigned.
  • Work with other departments to ensure smooth communication and alignment on documentation quality requirements.
Team Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements:Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Technical Writing, Technical Studies, Documentation/Communication, Certification, Quality Management or a related field.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in technical editing, proofreading, documentation quality control, technical documentation review, technical writing or a related field.
  • Experience reviewing user manuals or technical documentation for machinery, consumer products or similar regulated products is preferred.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation against relevant product safety, safety sign and instruction standards, including ISO 3864, ISO 12100, ISO 20607 and EN IEC/IEEE 82079-1, is preferred.
  • Experience applying style guides, terminology rules, checklists or documentation standards is an advantage.
  • Experience with European and American standards and regulations, such as EN, UL and IEC standards, CE, WEEE and FCC requirements, is preferred.
  • Previous experience guiding, mentoring or supporting junior team members is an advantage.
Skills:
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong proofreading, copy-editing and technical editing skills.
