Responsibilities

About you

As the Manager, PR & Comms at CARSOME, you will drive the strategic direction of our corporate communications and public relations across Southeast Asia — while leading and mentoring a team of communications professionals. You will be responsible for shaping CARSOME’s regional narrative, managing the company's reputation, and amplifying thought leadership through proactive media and stakeholder engagement.

You are a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader, capable of balancing big-picture direction with day-to-day execution. You are confident in working with senior leadership, managing regional stakeholders, and inspiring a team to produce impactful work that aligns with CARSOME’s vision as a homegrown tech leader in mobility.

This role is ideal for a collaborative communicator who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys building from the ground up, and is passionate about crafting narratives that create trust and visibility across markets.

Your Day-to-day

1. Strategic Communications & Narrative Development:

  • Define and drive regional communications strategies that support business objectives and reinforce CARSOME’s positioning as a tech-driven automotive leader. Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and key messaging across markets and platforms.

2. Thought Leadership Development

  • Lead the planning and execution of thought leadership initiatives to build visibility around CARSOME’s industry insights, innovation, sustainability, and startup ecosystem contributions. Identify and manage speaking engagements, awards, article contributions, interviews, and other executive profiling opportunities.

3. Content Oversight & Editorial Quality

  • Oversee the development of high-quality content including press releases, long-form articles, thought leadership articles, talking points, speeches, awards submissions and strategic decks. Review and edit materials to ensure brand alignment and clarity of messaging.

4. Media Relations & Spokesperson Management

  • Cultivate relationships with key regional and local media. Lead media engagement efforts including press outreach, interview coordination, press material development, and preparation of CARSOME’s spokespeople. Serve as a strategic partner in media strategy, coverage monitoring, and message alignment.

5. Issues & Crisis Communication

  • Develop and manage communications response plans for potential issues and crises. Draft holding statements, FAQs, and internal guidance while coordinating closely with local teams to ensure timely dissemination and handling of any crisis situation.

6. Team & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead and manage the regional communications team, providing guidance, direction, and development opportunities. Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and subsidiary teams to ensure alignment on messaging, timelines, and business priorities.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Product, HR, and Commercial teams to ensure integrated communications across the company. Provide communications support and counsel on product launches, campaigns, and business updates.

8. Corporate Communications Governance

  • Maintain and update key company messaging documents, manage custodianship of corporate facts and figures, and ensure timely dissemination of accurate information across regions.

9. Monitoring & Intelligence

  • Track industry news, competitor activities, and emerging media trends to shape proactive communications strategies and identify opportunities for thought leadership or brand defense.

Your Know-how

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related fields).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, journalism or strategic communications roles, with minimum 2 years of managerial experience.
  • Excellent writing, narrative building and communications skills.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills in promoting alignment across regional and subsidiary teams.
  • A solid grasp of the Malaysian media landscape with understanding of regional and tech media.
  • Experience in handling financial PR/ corporate reporting will be advantageous.
  • Good research, organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess a high sense of responsibility and ownership.
