A Quantity Surveyor (QS)

is responsible for managing project costs, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring construction projects are completed within budget. The role involves preparing tender documents, evaluating contractor quotations, monitoring project expenses, and managing contractual and financial aspects of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and project cost plans.

• Measure quantities and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ).

• Prepare and evaluate tender documents and contractor quotations.

• Monitor project costs and ensure expenditures stay within budget.

• Prepare progress claims, payment certificates, and final accounts.

• Evaluate and manage variation orders (VO) and additional works.

• Review subcontractor quotations and negotiate contract terms.

• Maintain proper records of project costs and financial reports.

• Liaise with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors regarding cost matters.

• Ensure contract administration and compliance with project requirements.
