Production Engineer – Blasting & Painting

Job Summary

The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing blasting and painting operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with client specifications and quality standards. The role involves supporting production planning, process improvement, resource allocation, and coordination with project, QA/QC, and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily blasting and painting activities according to project schedules.
• Prepare production plans, work schedules, and manpower allocation.
• Monitor production progress and ensure timely completion of work.
• Review project specifications, coating systems, and technical requirements.
• Ensure blasting and painting activities comply with approved procedures and quality standards.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, QA/QC Inspectors, Procurement, and Maintenance teams.
• Monitor equipment performance and arrange preventive maintenance when required.
• Analyze production efficiency and implement process improvements to increase productivity.
• Monitor material consumption, including paint, abrasives, and consumables, to reduce waste and control costs.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Investigate production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and environmental requirements.
• Support internal and external quality audits.
• Assist in training production personnel on work procedures and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial blasting and painting, protective coatings, or heavy engineering.
• Knowledge of surface preparation standards (ISO 8501, SSPC, NACE/AMPP).
• Familiarity with industrial coating systems and painting processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• AMPP/NACE or FROSIO Coating Inspector certification (advantageous).
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• WSH knowledge or relevant safety certification is an advantage.
