Priority Job Scope of a Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) / Yellow Book Holder

1. Ensure Site Compliance with Safety Laws

* Ensure compliance with BOWEC Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health requirements, and company safety procedures.

* Monitor contractors and workers to ensure legal safety requirements are followed.

2. Conduct Site Safety Inspections

* Perform daily site inspections.

* Identify unsafe conditions and hazards.

* Ensure corrective actions are taken immediately

3. Stop Unsafe Work Practices

* Observe workers' activities.

* Correct unsafe acts such as:

* Working at height without protection.

* Not wearing PPE.

* Unsafe lifting operations.

* Unsafe scaffolding use.

4. Risk Assessment and Hazard Control

* Assist in Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC).

* Recommend control measures to reduce risks.

* Ensure Safe Work Procedures are implemented.

5. Toolbox Meetings and Safety Briefings

* Conduct safety induction for new workers.

* Deliver toolbox talks before work activities.

* Promote safety awareness among workers and subcontractors.

6. Monitor PPE Usage

* Ensure workers use:

* Safety helmets

* Safety boots

* Reflective vests

* Safety harnesses

* Gloves and eye protection where required.

7. Accident Investigation

* Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents.

* Prepare reports and recommend preventive measures.

* Follow up on corrective actions.

8. Safety Documentation

* Maintain:

* Safety inspection records

* Toolbox meeting records

* HIRARC documents

* Incident reports

* Permit-to-work records

* Training records.

9. Coordinate with Subcontractors

* Check subcontractors' compliance with site safety requirements.

* Liaise with contractors' safety supervisors regarding safety issues.

10. Liaise with Authorities

* Assist during DOSH/JKKP inspections.

* Ensure site documents and safety records are available for audit.
