Job Title: Data Centre Capacity Engineer
Location: Harbour Front, SG
Role Summary
The Data Centre Capacity Engineer is responsible for capacity planning and management across data centres and network equipment rooms. This role ensures sufficient space, power, and cooling are available to support current operations and future growth, while maintaining resilience, compliance, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Capacity Planning & Management
- Plan and manage data centre and network room capacity covering space, power, and cooling.
- Develop short‑, medium‑, and long‑term capacity forecasts based on IT demand and growth projections.
- Support phased load planning (e.g. IT load ramp‑up by phase).
Infrastructure Assessment
- Evaluate electrical infrastructure including UPS, transformers, PDUs, generators, and redundancy (N, N+1).
- Assess cooling infrastructure such as CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, and cooling towers to support projected IT loads.
- Identify capacity constraints, single points of failure, and mitigation options.
Design & Setup
- Support data centre and network room design, layout, and rack planning.
- Review and validate load calculations for electrical and cooling systems.
- Ensure new deployments align with data centre standards and best practices.
Tools & Inventory
- Maintain accurate capacity data in DCIM and asset management tools (e.g. Nlyte, Remedy).
- Validate inventory accuracy and ensure alignment between physical assets and system records.
Governance & Operations
- Support Method of Procedure (MOP) reviews related to capacity upgrades and changes.
- Work closely with Operations, Facilities, Network, Hosting, and Governance teams.
- Provide input to vendor designs, tenders, and technical reviews.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Produce regular capacity reports and dashboards for management.
- Communicate risks, constraints, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of data centre power and cooling infrastructure.
- Experience in capacity planning for data centres and network rooms.
- Familiarity with redundancy concepts and resilience standards.
- Experience with DCIM and asset management tools.
- Ability to work across IT, facilities, and vendor teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in data centre operations, facilities engineering, or infrastructure planning.
- Experience supporting large‑scale or regulated enterprise environments (e.g. financial institutions).
