About the role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager, Shipping to oversee export shipping operations, ensuring timely shipment execution, accurate documentation, and effective coordination with customers, shipping lines, and internal stakeholders. This role is based at Pulau Indah, Port Klang and plays a key role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily export shipping operations to ensure timely and smooth shipment execution.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Logistics, Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders, and Customers to meet shipment schedules.
- Manage vessel bookings, shipment planning, and cargo readiness to ensure on-time delivery.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of shipping documents, including Bills of Lading and export-related documentation.
- Monitor and minimize shipping-related costs, detention charges, and operational inefficiencies.
- Proactively communicate with customers and stakeholders to resolve shipment issues and ensure service excellence.
- Drive accuracy in shipping documentation and compliance with export regulations and customer requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop the shipping team to achieve operational and departmental goals.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service performance.
- Support continuous improvement projects and contribute innovative ideas to strengthen shipping operations.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in shipping, export operations, or international logistics.
- Strong knowledge of shipping documentation, vessel booking processes, and export procedures.
- Excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Able to communicate effectively in Mandarin and English to support business dealings with Mandarin-speaking customers and stakeholders.
- Willing to be based at Pulau Indah, Port Klang.
