JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Assistant Manager, Engineering
Department: Engineering
Reporting To: Manager, Engineering
Job Purpose
To support and lead engineering activities in ensuring optimal equipment performance, process reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and driving improvements in equipment efficiency, particularly in semiconductor-related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise engineering activities related to equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement.
- Manage engineering projects to ensure timely completion within scope, budget, and quality requirements.
- Support installation, modification, and upgrade of equipment and systems.
- Ensure high equipment uptime and reliability through effective preventive and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Analyze technical issues and perform root cause analysis to implement sustainable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma where applicable).
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Minimum Education / Qualification / Specialized Skills & Knowledge RequiredEducation & Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering disciplines.
- Professional engineering certification is an added advantage.
Working Experience
- Minimum 7–9 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Preferably from semiconductor, automation, precision manufacturing, or related industries.
- Experience in leading engineering projects or small teams is an advantage.
- Exposure to semiconductor equipment such as pneumatic systems, gas box systems, or similar equipment is highly preferred.
Specialized Skills & Knowledge
- Strong technical knowledge in pneumatic systems, gas distribution systems, and semiconductor equipment engineering.
- Good understanding of equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system improvement.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical skills in root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Experience in process improvement, equipment reliability enhancement, and downtime reduction.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage.
- Good leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
