Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Pricing Executive / Senior Pricing Executive to support both Air Freight and Ocean Freight pricing activities in Malaysia. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing competitive freight rates, preparing freight rates, preparing quotations, supporting sales enquiries, maintaining carrier relationships and ensuring timely pricing support for both import and export shipments.
This role is suitable for candidates with freight forwarding experience who understand airline, shipping line, co-loader, overseas agent, trucking, customs clearance and local handling cost structures.
Responsibilities
1. Air & Ocean Freight Pricing
- Source and negotiate competitive rates from airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, NVOCCs, transporters and overseas agents.
- Prepare accurate and timely quotations for air freight, ocean freight, cross-border, trucking, customs clearance and other logistics services.
- Support pricing for both import and export shipments.
- Handle spot rate enquiries, RFQs, tenders and ad-hoc customer requirements.
- Compare carrier options based on rate, transit time, service reliability, routing and space availability.
2. Sales & Customer Support
- Work closely with the Sales team to provide competitive pricing solutions.
- Assist Sales in preparing customer quotations, cost breakdowns and proposal submissions.
- Provide pricing advice based on shipment urgency, cargo type, destination, Incoterms and customer requirements.
- Follow up on quoted shipments and support Sales to improve conversion rates.
3. Carrier, Agent & Vendor Coordination
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, overseas agents and local vendors.
- Monitor market rate changes, fuel surcharge, peak season surcharge, GRI, space constraints and service updates.
- Maintain updated rate sheets and vendor contact lists.
- Coordinate with overseas agents for DDU, DAP, DDP, EXW, FOB and door-to-door pricing.
4. Internal Coordination
- Liaise with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Finance and Customs teams to ensure quotations are accurate and executable.
- Ensure all cost elements are included, such as freight, local charges, documentation, customs clearance, trucking, warehouse and other applicable charges.
- Support branch offices in Malaysia for pricing-related enquiries.
- Ensure profit margin and selling rates are aligned with company guidelines.
5. Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Maintain pricing records, quotation logs, win/loss analysis and rate validity tracking.
- Provide market updates on air and ocean freight trends.
- Assist management with pricing analysis, customer profitability and carrier performance review.
- Support tender preparation and commercial strategy when required.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma / Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, International Trade, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in freight forwarding, preferably in pricing, operations, customer service, or sales support.
- Knowledge of both Air Freight and Ocean Freight is preferred.
- Familiar with import/export processes, Incoterms, customs clearance, local charges, airline/shipping line charges and freight documentation.
- Able to calculate costing and profit margin accurately.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Able to respond quickly to urgent pricing enquiries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and freight forwarding systems.
- Good command of English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin will be an added advantage.
- Preferred Candidate Profile
- Existing freight forwarding pricing experience in Malaysia.
- Strong carrier, co-loader and agent network.
- Able to support both air and ocean pricing independently.
- Commercially minded with good cost control awareness.
- Fast response, responsible and able to work closely with Sales and Operations.
- Good understanding of Malaysia freight forwarding market, including KLIA, Port Klang, Penang, Johor and cross-border movements.
