Production Supervisor (Printing Industry)
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead and coordinate our print production operations. The successful candidate will oversee daily workflow, ensure production targets are achieved, maintain quality standards, and support a team of printing and finishing operators in a fast-paced commercial printing environment.
This role is ideal for an individual with strong leadership skills, hands-on technical knowledge of printing equipment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate daily production activities to ensure jobs are completed on time and to quality standards.
- Lead and supervise a team of printing, finishing, and production staff.
- Monitor production schedules and allocate resources efficiently to maximize machine utilization and productivity.
- Perform troubleshooting and basic maintenance of printing and finishing equipment.
- Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and company standards.
- Coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, and Prepress teams to ensure smooth job execution.
- Manage inventory levels of paper, ink, consumables, and production materials.
- Oversee procurement of production materials based on customer requirements and production forecasts.
- Monitor machine performance and coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
- Train and mentor production staff to improve operational efficiency and technical competency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, and cost savings.
- Maintain a safe and organized production environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a commercial printing, digital printing, packaging, or related manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of digital printing, large format printing, finishing processes, or print production workflows.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, and workforce management.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and make decisions under pressure.
- Good understanding of inventory control and materials management.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to be hands-on and support operational activities when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digital presses, finishing equipment, cutting systems, laminators, or related print machinery.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
- Experience managing multiple production departments and workflows.
