A Design Manager for custom playground equipment leads the creative and technical development of bespoke play space. They bridge the gap between imagination and manufacturing, overseeing a team of designers and engineers to deliver safe, imaginative, and compliant play environments from concept to final installation.

Key Responsibilities

·  Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of industrial designers, landscape architects, and drafters.

·  Custom Concept Development: Translate client briefs and site requirements into creative, engaging, and unique play structures.

·   Safety & Compliance Oversight: Ensure all designs strictly adhere to international and local safety regulations (e.g., EN 1176, ASTM F1487, and regional standards).

·    Engineering & Manufacturing Feasibility: Collaborate with manufacturing and structural teams to ensure designs are structurally sound, cost-effective, and easy to produce and install.

·    Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and milestones from initial brainstorming through to production and final delivery.

·    Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary technical and creative lead when presenting proposals to clients, architects, and municipal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Landscape Architecture, Product Design, or Civil/Structural Engineering.

· Experience: 6+ years of experience in product design, landscape architecture, or playground equipment manufacturing. Management or supervisory experience is highly preferred.

· Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, or Adobe Creative Suite.

· Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of play value, ergonomics, materials (e.g., timber, steel, HDPE), and surfacing materials.

Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong problem-solving skills, and a high attention to detail
