Role Description The Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Jazz Hotel Penang in Penang, Malaysia. This position is responsible for generating room and event revenue by identifying new business opportunities, managing existing corporate and travel agency accounts, and building strong relationships with key partners. Day-to-day tasks include developing and executing sales plans, preparing proposals and contracts, coordinating site visits, and collaborating with the marketing and operations teams to ensure seamless guest experiences. The Sales Manager monitors market trends, compiles sales reports, manages pricing and inventory strategies in alignment with revenue goals, and represents the hotel at industry events and networking activities. This role also involves coaching and guiding junior sales team members to meet targets while maintaining high standards of professionalism and service.
Qualifications
  • Strong sales and business development skills, including account management, negotiation, and revenue-focused relationship building.
  • Experience in hospitality or tourism sales, preferably with hotels or related accommodations, including corporate, leisure, and group segments.
  • Proficiency in communication and presentation, with the ability to engage clients, conduct professional meetings, and prepare clear proposals.
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills, including pipeline management, reporting, and use of hotel sales or CRM systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as front office, events, reservations, and marketing.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Relevant education in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages common in the region is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Penang and attend client meetings, events, and networking activities as needed.
