Surrey Hills Grocer is an expanding brand that aims to be the most authentic Australian destination grocer by bringing honest-to-good, fine, fresh products. Inspired by the harsh terrains of Australia, we strive to bring you the best produce and offer everyone a taste of warm Australian hospitality.

On top of the Australian cafe and restaurant concept, we also have Spanish, Taiwanese and Japanese restaurant concepts.

Responsibilities

• Handle a specific pastry section
• Execute recipes set by Pastry Chef
• Prepare mise en place daily
• Ensure consistent quality & presentation
• Supervise Commis / junior bakers
• Maintain hygiene and workstation standards
• Monitor stock and reduce wastage

Requirements and skills

• 3 years of experience as a CDP/Sous Chef
• Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
• Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
• Familiar with industry’s best practices
• Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
• BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate would be a plus
