Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Testing Specialist to support the WOA (Windows on ARM) Validation Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in hardware and software testing, system validation, troubleshooting, bug reporting, and Windows platform support. This role involves executing test plans, reproducing issues, analyzing logs, and ensuring the quality and reliability of hardware and software components.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation
- Support the WOA Validation Engineering team in testing and validation activities.
- Execute test cases and validate hardware, software, drivers, BIOS, and firmware components.
- Perform functional, validation, compatibility, and regression testing.
- Conduct issue reproduction, validation, and root cause analysis.
System Setup & Maintenance
- Perform computer setup, maintenance, assembly, and disassembly.
- Install and configure Windows on ARM (WOA) operating systems.
- Install, upgrade, and validate device drivers, BIOS, and firmware.
- Support hardware and software troubleshooting activities.
Defect Management & Debugging
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test logs to identify issues.
- Perform initial triage and debugging of reported defects.
- Document, classify, and track defects using bug-tracking tools.
- Accurately assess and report issue severity and impact.
Test Execution & Reporting
- Complete assigned test requests within defined timelines.
- Provide regular status updates on testing progress, issues, and risks.
- Assist in developing, modifying, and improving test plans and test procedures.
- Support ad-hoc testing of new software, firmware, and hardware components.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop, modify, and execute basic scripts using Python or other scripting languages.
- Support automation initiatives to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, development, and validation teams.
- Participate in project discussions and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage multiple testing activities and deliver results according to project schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- 4–5 years of experience in software testing, hardware validation, or system testing.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows OS installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with driver installation, BIOS updates, and firmware upgrades.
- Knowledge of Windows on ARM (WOA) platforms.
- Experience in testing, validation, debugging, and defect tracking.
- Familiarity with bug-tracking and test management tools.
- Basic scripting knowledge using Python or similar languages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ARM-based platforms and architectures.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of firmware validation and system-level testing.
- Familiarity with Jira or other defect management tools.
- Understanding of test log analysis and root cause investigation.
