Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Junior Interior Designer role based in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Junior Interior Designer will support the senior design team in developing interior concepts, preparing mood boards, and assisting with design presentations for commercial and residential projects. Daily tasks include preparing space plans, interior layouts, and construction drawings, as well as coordinating FF&E selections in line with project requirements and budgets. The role involves collaborating with architects, project managers, and contractors, attending site visits, and assisting with measurements, site supervision, and design reviews. The Junior Interior Designer will also help maintain project documentation, update drawings based on feedback, and ensure design intent is carried through to execution.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Interior Design and Architecture, with the ability to translate concepts into practical, buildable solutions.
- Proficiency in Space Planning to optimize layouts for functionality, user experience, and compliance with relevant standards.
- Ability to produce clear and accurate Construction Drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details for site execution.
- Knowledge of FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) selection, specification, and coordination with suppliers and contractors.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Proficiency in relevant design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar), and basic skills in presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, InDesign, or equivalent).
- Strong visual, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and an eye for aesthetics and functionality.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to take feedback, work in a team, and manage time across multiple projects.
- Willingness to conduct site visits, coordinate with contractors, and learn project management basics; previous internship or junior experience is an advantage.
