5+ Years in mainframe developer - cobol, JCL, VSAM

Technical Skills Required

• Strong experience in:
• COBOL (Mainframe)
• JCL (Job Control Language)
• VSAM
• Familiarity with:
• Endevor
• Batch processing and scheduling tools (e.g., A-auto)
• Knowledge of:
• Mainframe environment (z/OS)
• File handling and data structures
• Good debugging and performance tuning skills

Domain Knowledge (Preferred)

• Banking systems (especially Deposits)
• Understanding of financial products and transaction processing
• Experience with regulatory or reporting systems

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work on legacy systems with limited documentation
• Good communication with business and technical teams
• Ability to handle production support and tight timelines

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe development
• Experience in IDMS, production support environment is a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support COBOL-based applications on IBM mainframe systems
• Analyze BRD/FSD and translate them into technical specifications
• Perform coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
• Support batch processing, online transactions, and job scheduling (JCL)
• Maintain and optimize batch/online transactions/IDMS/VSAM
• Investigate & support production issues and provide timely fixes
• Participate in system integration, SIT/UAT/Production support, and release activities
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and infrastructure teams
