Job Description

Responsibilities

The Boutique Operations Manager is responsible for the end-to-end performance of Birds of Paradise's boutiques and events — owning operational standards, customer experience, visual merchandising, and commercial results across every location and activation. This role sits at the heart of how the brand comes to life for our customers: ensuring every boutique runs to the highest standard, every event is executed with the same rigour, every team member is growing, and every performance insight is turned into action.

Lead boutique & events operations

  • Own end-to-end operations across all boutiques and events — customer experience and service recovery, cashiering, fulfilment and deliveries, stock and inventory, product quality, cleaning and maintenance, and visual merchandising.
  • Develop workplans and strategies to achieve operational targets; track, review, and report on boutique and events performance regularly.
  • Plan and manage resources — cost, manpower, and rostering — across all locations and events.
  • Write, maintain, and update SOPs to ensure all processes meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead audits and assessments across boutiques and events
  • Chair regular operations meetings and prepare management reports to keep leadership informed of performance and priorities

Drive commercial performance

  • Own the commercial performance of all boutiques
  • Monitor product performance across locations, surfacing opportunities and working with the marketing and product teams
  • Manage events operational costs
  • Provide intelligence and insights to leadership
  • Optimise resource and manpower efficiencies to manage boutique operating costs

Develop and manage the team

  • Lead the boutiques & events team's learning and development — building capability through structured mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, and ongoing feedback.
  • Develop Area Managers and Boutique Managers into confident operational and commercial leaders.
  • Build a team of brand ambassadors who embody Birds of Paradise values in every customer interaction.

Collaborate Across Functions

  • Work closely with Marketing on in-boutique content and visual communications
  • Work closely with Training & Development on staff training; with Fulfilment on product delivery standards and inventory ordering. Collaborate with other departments as operational needs require.

We are looking for someone with / who is

  • A high standard of integrity, professionalism and work ethic
  • Strong sense of compliance to standards & driven to achieve targets
  • Strong technical knowledge in multi-store operations, and able to implement industry-best-practices in the company context
  • Champions the importance of customer experience with a customer-centric and values-driven perspective
  • Brand-literate — understands what makes a premium boutique brand distinct and cares about protecting that in every detail.
  • Hands-on and visible — leads from the floor, not just from behind a desk.
  • Commercially curious — asks why the numbers look the way they do and has a view on what should change.
  • A genuine developer of people — finds satisfaction in building capability in the team around them.
  • Collaborative and clear — works well across functions and communicates with directness and care.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in multi-outlet F&B, lifestyle retail, or hospitality operations, with direct accountability for more than one location.
  • Proven track record managing commercial performance across multiple sites — reads sales data fluently, spots trends early, and acts decisively.
  • Experience leading store openings is an advantage
  • Familiar with SOP development, audit processes, and F&B regulatory compliance.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Minimum Diploma or Degree
  • 5-day work week with flexibility for weekends and public holidays as operational needs require.
