Open Position: Principal Engineer (Physical Design)

A leading technology company in Penang is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join its engineering team. This position will play a key role in supporting product development activities, driving technical excellence, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical execution, process improvement, and mentoring team members while contributing to the successful delivery of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering projects from development through implementation.
• Translate product requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Drive design optimization activities to achieve project objectives related to performance, quality, and reliability.
• Identify technical risks and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans.
• Review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and improve development efficiency.
• Develop and enhance engineering processes, workflows, and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and project execution.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Participate in project planning, technical reviews, and problem-solving activities.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

• More than 7 years of relevant engineering experience within a technology or manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and fast-paced environments.

Technical Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in engineering development, optimization, and implementation activities.
• Familiarity with engineering tools, processes, and industry best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives is an advantage.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence project outcomes.
• Self-motivated with strong ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading technical projects or mentoring engineering teams.
• Exposure to product development or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of quality, reliability, or continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
