About the role:

As a Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the company's financial performance through accurate costing, inventory management, financial reporting, and business analysis. You will work closely with operations, warehouse, and cross-functional teams to ensure inventory accuracy, cost efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. In this role, you will provide valuable insights through cost analysis, margin reviews, budgeting support, and inventory control activities, helping management make informed business decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

· Management Reporting & Financial Analysis: Prepare monthly management reports, variance analysis, and performance commentary. Analyze financial results, identify key business drivers, and provide actionable insights to support management decision-making.

  • Cost Accounting & Cost Control: Monitor cost centers, analyze production and operational costs, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and control spending. Support standard cost updates and analyze material cost variances.
  • Inventory Management & Stock Control: Lead annual physical stock take and manage inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stock audits, and reconciliations. Ensure alignment between accounting records and warehouse inventory systems.
  • Product Costing & Profitability Analysis: Review product costing structures, analyze product margins, and support initiatives to improve profitability and pricing decisions.
  • Budgeting, Compliance & Reporting: Support the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies. Liaise with auditors and relevant stakeholders when required.
  • Inventory Risk Management & Process Improvement: Conduct inventory aging analysis, prepare provisions for obsolete or slow-moving stock, investigate discrepancies, and participate in process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • At least 4 to 6 years of relevant working experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of costing methodologies, inventory accounting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards, internal controls, inventory management processes, and ERP systems. Experience with Infor LN or SAP will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of handling large datasets, financial models, and reporting requirements.
  • Able to communicate effectively in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
