Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description MSP Hitect is a technology-focused engineering company specializing in integrated circuit (IC) design services and solutions. The organization works with global and regional clients on advanced semiconductor projects, offering expertise across analog, mixed-signal, and custom layout domains. MSP Hitect emphasizes quality, collaboration, and on-time delivery in a fast-paced, project-based environment. Team members are encouraged to apply strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset to complex design challenges.

Role Description This on-site Analog Layout Engineer – Layout Editor position is a contract role based in Penang. The role involves creating, optimizing, and maintaining analog and mixed-signal IC layouts from schematic to final GDS, while meeting design rules, matching requirements, and performance targets. Day-to-day tasks include working closely with circuit designers to interpret schematics, implementing device placement and routing, and iterating on layout to improve performance, area, and reliability. The engineer will perform layout-versus-schematic (LVS) and design-rule-check (DRC) runs, debug issues, and support physical verification sign-off. The role also includes documenting layout work, participating in design reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project completion.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Layout Design for analog and mixed-signal ICs, including device placement, routing, matching, and parasitic-aware layout practices.
  • Solid understanding of Circuit Design concepts, particularly in Analog and Analog Circuits, to interpret schematics and collaborate effectively with design engineers.
  • Hands-on experience with Physical Verification, including DRC, LVS, and related sign-off checks using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Familiarity with common analog building blocks (e.g., amplifiers, references, bias circuits, data converters) and their layout considerations.
  • Experience with major layout and verification tools (such as Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor, or Synopsys tools) is highly desirable.
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in IC layout.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow foundry design rules, and commitment to producing high-quality, manufacturable layouts.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on-site in a structured, deadline-driven project environment.
