Job Description
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and operate IBM i (AS400) systems to ensure optimal performance and availability
Execute, monitor, and troubleshoot batch jobs and automated schedules using scheduling tools
Ensure jobs run within defined SLAs and escalate issues promptly when deviations occur
Perform daily operational tasks such as system checks, backups verification, and job restarts
Respond to system alerts, incidents, and operational issues according to SOPs
Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and support teams during incidents or maintenance activities
Maintain and update operational documentation, run books, and shift handover reports
Support planned system maintenance, upgrades, and disaster recovery activities
Follow security, compliance, and change management procedures
Provide shift coverage as required (including nights, weekends, or holidays, if applicable)
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Basic understanding of batch processing, job dependencies, and scheduling calendars
Working knowledge of IBM i / AS400 environment (job queues, subsystems, basic commands)
Experience with job scheduling tools (e.g., Rocket-Zena, Control‑M, CA Workload Automation or similar)
Familiarity with incident management and escalation procedures
Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
Ability to follow procedures accurately with strong attention to detail
Willingness to work shifts and handle time‑critical operations
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
At least 1–2 years of experience as a Computer Operator or similar IT operations role
Experience in a data center or enterprise IT operations environment
Basic scripting or automation knowledge (CL, shell scripts, etc.)
Exposure to ITIL processes or operational best practices
Certification or formal training in IBM i / AS400 or scheduling tools
Soft Skills:
Strong sense of responsibility and reliability
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
Team‑oriented with a proactive mindset
Work Conditions:
Shift‑based role (24/7 operations, if applicable)
On‑call or standby support may be required
